Our Experience
Pulling up to Marcus Bar & Grille, the anticipation was real. Without a lot in sight, we spotted the valet a block up on the right — $8 on a Tuesday evening.Walking up to the entrance, the Marcus logo caught our eye, bold and inviting against the side of the building. Though we missed out on trying the outdoor seating due to the weather (I’m assuming), it looked like a vibe all on its own. Definitely earmarked for our next visit.
Stepping inside, the place welcomed us with open arms. The staff at the front desk were all smiles, but, tables were all taken up by those who’d planned ahead. No problem though — the bar was calling our names. The open and airy vibe of Marcus Bar & Grille, with tables thoughtfully spaced out, offered a refreshing break from the cramped spaces we’re all too familiar with. And hey, they’ve got an event space tucked in there, too. Mental note made.
The bar stretched out invitingly, promising good times with its plush seats. Alanna, our bartender for the night, was a ray of sunshine, doling out her favorite picks from the menu with genuine enthusiasm. While I typically appreciate a heads-up on what to maybe steer clear from, everything she recommended sounded too good to pass up. When it comes to drinks, I kicked things off with a “Pinky’s Up” because gin is my friend, followed by “All The Smoke” — which, to my surprise, came without the theatrics of smoke but was still a decent sip. My brother, steering clear of alcohol, dived straight into the shared dishes with me.
The M’s cornbread was our opener, landing somewhere between cake and classic cornbread but absolutely delicious, especially with its dipping sauces. Chatting with Alanna and then Cali, another standout bartender, made the night even better. Though Cali’s newer around here, her tips were gold, making me think I need a round two here, especially for the brunch.in the works.
For dinner, I went all in: the B & G Burger and Edgewood Brisket, with a side of that Wood Fired Four Cheese Mac + Brisket and Crispy Brussels Sprouts. My brother opted for the Everything Wings and Truffle Fries. Every dish was a revelation, setting the bar high for our next dining adventure.
